All of us buy stuff everyday. All that stuff is packaged. We order home delivered food – that’s packaging that just goes into the bin. Functional, re-usable, interactive packaging is not just a huge opportunity to engage the consumer. Interactive packaging can even push purchase and stand out on the shelf. Here’s some inspiration to get you going:

Game Board Food Packaging

By turning a food delivery packaging (example a pizza box) into a board game (maybe a branded one for a special brand activation?) can make the consumer engage with a brand in their home and drive recall. I would use this for maybe a TV show launch – tie up with a pizza brand and create a board game using show characters.

Stack-able Measurement Bottles

Turkish designer Aldin Aygan created this interesting concept for a milk brand. Stackable bottles that become height-measuring tools for kids. Each bottle neatly fit into the other to ‘grow with the child’. Interesting brand activation idea!

Packaging Box Projectors For Smartphones

By far one of the cleverest ideas we’ve seen today. Pizza Hut turned every delivery box into a projector for a smartphone. According to The Verge, this ‘Blockbuster Box’ was created by Ogilvy Hong Kong. The advertising stunt uses boxes with a perforated, pop-out hole in the side of the box. A very unique pizza table (also called a pizza protector) then serves as the projector’s lens. Slip the plastic lens into the hole, and then use the pizza table’s legs to prop up your smartphone inside the box. The contraption then blows up your phone’s display onto any nearby wall.

There’s so much more to do with packaging, and we can really create interesting brand activations with clever interactive packaging ideas. We hope this inspires you to come up with something super clever for your brand!
